The yin and yang of it all

I believe in a balanced universe. No good without evil. No heroes without villains. No positive without negative. Sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down. Don’t despair too much that the dark side seems to be “winning” at the moment, a reversal of fortune will come eventually. Human history is full of these moments, the fall of the Roman Empire, The Black plague, The Spanish Inquisition, and the Holocaust, just to name a few. We have survived them all and come back better. We are a resilient species, we hairless apes. Believe it or not we are safer, healthier and wealthier than any time in our history. Maybe not tomorrow or the next day or next month but soon (really) we will be back on track to do all the “hard” things, to paraphrase JFK. We will go back to the Moon, we will “defeat” tuberculosis, we will find a way to minimize the mortality rate of cancer. We must be optimistic and we must fight because we have the power within ourselves. The arc of history move towards righteousness. Not now but soon because we must acknowledge the balance in all things.
